K—, the pen name of Kristie LeVangie, has been a freelance poet for over 25 years. She’s been previously published in numerous anthologies and chapbooks, but this is her first complete collection, which showcases her edgy style and graphic use of language. Kristie has won several awards for her writing, including the Malcolm Sedam Fictional Writing contest (Miami University), Verse Writer’s Guild of Ohio (Ohio Poetry Day Association), World of Poetry’s Silver and Gold Poet Awards, and Who’s Who in Poetry recipient. In March of 2008, Kristie ventured into the podcast world. Shades of K—: Chronicles of Libidacoria quickly gained popularity and is now being downloaded and streamed in 58 countries around the world. Not only does the podcast feature her essays and poetry in her words, it also showcases music by independent and local musicians. In May of 2008, Kristie partnered with Harry Rooster, The Professor of TPBN, to record a song called, “I’m Not Asking for Love.” Available on major online music download sites, the song captures the raw sexuality of Kristie’s poetry with the industrial vibes of Harry’s composing for one hot number. (Click on the player below to order the song directly from TuneCore, or at least give it a listen.) In March of 2009, Libidacoria branched into the talk show realm with Libidacoria: The Late Night Talk Show. Tauted as the smart-assist sex show on the web, K— and her co-hosts— Saxie, Bropey and Orbit— examine modern sexuality in all its aspects. Show airs every Tuesday evening at 11 P.M. EST and can be found on BlogTalkRadio. Kristie is currently working on her second and third volumes of poetry that will be published as a single book entitled Keys/Bitter. Keys is a collection of love poems without the frills and niceties of traditional love poetry while Bitter is a volume of angry poetry reflecting the break-up of a relationship. True to her style, Kristie examines love writing with all the passion, directness and raw energy present in her current release, Libidacoria: In a Plain Brown Wrapper. Kristie grew up in Franklin, Ohio, where she graduated with high honors from Franklin High School. She went on to obtain a degree in both Psychology and Sociology from Miami University in Ohio. She currently resides in Middletown, Ohio. |
